RJDJ Reactive Music app

You’ve heard of augmented reality – this is augmented music. RjDj (Reality Jockey DJ) was a free iPhone app that detects ambient sounds, rips out samples or mutates them into harmonies, then intelligently mashes them up with what’s playing. It has been downloaded more than 300,000 times. RJDJ was a small start up based in London where reactive music ‘scenes’ were created from using Pure Data and LibPd with iOS. Rich Hemming (S_A_R_Lab), formelly known as reactive music producer ‘1210Sounds’ worked with Hospital Records artist Netsky on his debut album to create reactive RJDJ versions of linear music. A more structured approach was used in Moovz scenes to enable non-officianados of music production to engage and interact in new ways.
